Elect Richard Adams for Ohio’s 79th District State Representative

Adams announces for 79th District Ohio House Seat

Today, Richard N. Adams announced he is a Republican candidate for the 79th District Ohio House Seat. The position is currently held by Diana Fessler who is in her final term due to term limits. The open seat will be on the 2008 Primary Election Ballot.

Adams indicated 2008 is a presidential election year and the primary will be held in March instead of the usual May. In order to prepare an informative campaign an meet with people throughout the 79th District (all of Miami County and about ¼ of Darke County) Adams announced now so he can go to work to earn voter support.

Adams noted the solving of Ohio’s problems and the improvement in state services while not raising taxes is dependent on increasing the availability of good jobs for Ohioans by the state working with private enterprises in helping to keep jobs, expand the current employment base and attract new employers to Ohio. Good jobs and a growing economy will provide the resources to help local communities with school funding and hold or even reduce college expenses. Adams said “we must have our high school graduates and our other citizens adequately prepared for work and additional education to get and keep a job or obtain a better job”.

Adams, who was the Upper Valley JVS District Superintendent in Piqua, a Miami County Commissioner for two terms and currently is a member of the Miami County Board of Elections stated his background and experience would qualify him to address and work to correct problems facing the citizens of the 79th District and Ohio. He indicated his work in the public schools, in county government and the 16 years he has been on the board of Edison Community College will provide the background for working effectively in school finance, higher education funding and providing government services in an effective, efficient, and economical manner.

Other major areas of importance to Adams are affordable health care, support of the family farm and insuring we have comprehensive safety forces including law enforcement and fire protection.

Adams is married to Sandy Adams, R.N. and they have three adult children, Julie, Rick, and Christian.

Adams noted he would be resigning from the Miami County Board of Elections due to his candidacy effective August 11, 2007.
