Adams Announces Priorities

Richard “Dick” Adams, who has announced he is a candidate for State Representative 79th District is listing his priorities as a state legislator.

Adams indicated he is concerned with the unsolved problems facing Ohioans, especially the residents of Miami and Darke Counties (The 79th District includes all of Miami County and eight townships in Darke County). Adams continued, “The need for more good jobs, the funding of K-12 education, the cost of college tuition, healthcare expenses, the challenges of being a successful farmer, the difficulty of running a business, and trying to live on a fixed income are areas that need attention and solutions”.

Adams said solving the need for state services and local needs is not higher taxes. State government must partner with local elected officials, employers, and educators to retain the good jobs we have and add even more good jobs. With a strong economy we can generate the resources necessary to invest in state responsibilities without raising state taxes.

Adams who served two terms as Miami County Commissioner and three terms as a member of the Miami County Board of Elections stated he will go to Columbus to do or undo those things that are important to the citizens of Miami and Darke Counties. Adams noted he has a vision of what needs to be done and the experience to get positive results.

Adams, who was reared on a dairy farm and has a degree for The Ohio State University in agriculture education affirmed his support for agriculture as a major industry in Darke and Miami Counties. He stated commercial and industrial growth is important, but can and must be balanced with the interests of farmers.

Adams indicated he has the ability and experience to get cooperation among all levels of government form the townships to the state house.

Adams and his wife Sandy are parents of three adult children and live in Concord Township near Troy.
